Aleksey Dobrynin participated in the program "The Territory of Law" on "Fontanka Live". The topic was: "Cheese On The Border". 4th August 2015

According to the FCS, in 2015 the Federal Customs Service of Russia instituted 17 criminal and 402 administrative proceedings over the cases of smuggling goods banned for import into Russia, and imposed fines the total sum of which exceeds 15 million roubles. All in all, customs officers have prevented more than 1.1 thousand consignments of food products of total weight over 26.6 thousand tons from entering into Russia since the imposition of the food embargo. Formally, the embargo on food brought to Russia from Europe does not concern private persons. Can the customs fine a citizen for attempting to bring in a slice of cheese and confiscate it? What kind of food and in what quantity can be legally brought in by the Russians, and can supermarkets sell "under sanctions" products?

Answers to these and some other questions are given by Aleksey Dobrynin, Partner and Head of Criminal Law Practice of attorneys at law Pen & Paper.
